Hi! I'm Kari Justis, the founder and owner of Progress is Possible Tutoring LLC.
My passion for education started when I was a little girl. I loved playing school with my dolls, my brother, and anyone that would join me. My grandma is a retired educator, so I guess you could say it's in my blood.
Later, when I was in 8th grade, I began volunteering and working with children with special needs. I continued volunteering throughout high school, and by my senior year I decided I wanted to pursue a degree in Exceptional Student Education.
After high school, I attended Warner University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts in Exceptional Student Education K-12 in 2015.
Following graduation, I taught US History and Intensive Reading to middle school students with disabilities. After 3 years, I decided to make the jump to teaching in a self-contained class. I had 16 students from grades 5th-7th. I taught reading, math, science, social studies, and life skills. Those kids became my family for the next 2 years.
In 2020, following the decision to move closer to family, I began working as a high school math support facilitator, which is a teacher who offers extra math support to students with disabilities.
After having my son in 2021, I stepped away from the classroom but never from teaching. In 2022, I started tutoring, and quickly fell in love with it.
Tutoring allows me to focus the parts of teaching that I love, building a rapport with my students and helping struggling learners, without the red tape of the school system. By working 1:1 with students and designing individualized tutoring programs for them, I have seen my students have achieved huge gains, and at a much quicker rate than they would in a traditional classroom setting.
Kari earned her BA in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) K-12 in 2015.
Kari holds certifications in: ESE K-12, Elementary Education K-6, and Middle Grades Social Studies 5-9, and has certifications in both English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Reading.
With nearly 10 years of experience, Kari specializes in teaching and tutoring students who face learning challenges. She has helped many children reach their academic goals with confidence and independence. In fact, her approach is so effective that many families find their child no longer needs ongoing support, an outcome that speaks to the lasting impact of her work.
Kari has a 3 year old son whom she loves dearly, and a 10 year old cat named Minnie. Her son keeps her on her toes. When she is not working with her students she enjoys listening to podcasts and working on crafts.
